JESSICA MORTELL
Staff Engineer
Originally from Massachusetts, Jessica attended the University of Connecticut and received a BS in civil engineering. Jessica has a strong passion for bicycle and pedestrian planning, which drove her to start the UConn Cycles bicycle sharing program which currently operates via the library's circulation system with 20 bicycles.Before starting with Toole Design Group as a Civil Engineering Intern, Jessica traveled throughout the United States and Canada without the use of a personal vehicle. She experienced cultures and transportation networks in 22 states, and spent over two months in British Columbia. Jessica is excited to bring her passion for smart, sustainable design and experience to help in the future planning for a multi-modal transportation world. Jessica is involved with the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU), and won a scholarship to attend CNU 17 in Denver, CO during the summer of 2008. She is active in the bicycling and pedestrian planning community, enjoys attending conferences and professional development events.
While Jessica is not designing for the future of sustainability, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, biking, snowboarding, and learning the guitar.
