Jim Elliot, AICP
Planner

Jim Elliott comes to Toole Design with a fresh perspective on planning issues, as informed by his educational and experiential background.  Working for eight years with a legislative and political analysis consultant in Washington, DC, he saw firsthand the impacts of policy and the public process on the built environment.  His time spent living and working abroad as a Peace Corps volunteer was critical in developing an understanding of the role cultural differences play in planning and using public space.

Jim recently earned his Masters in Community Planning from the University of Maryland, where he focused on non-motorized transportation planning. While in school he represented graduate students on Campus Transportation Advisory Committee and completed internships with the Maryland Department of Planning and the Eno Transportation Foundation.  Outside the office, he keeps busy as a new father of baby boy Sammy, and serving as the Secretary for Life of his short story reading club.  Jim is a regular metro commuter from northwest DC where he lives with his wife and son.
