Washington Bicycle Summit

March 20-21, 2017

The Red Lion Hotel, Olympia, WA

  • Join Toole Design Vice President & Principal Engineer Bill Schultheiss, P.E. from the Silver Spring, MD., office, Research Lead Rebecca Sanders Ph.D. from the Portland office, and Amalia Leighton Cody, P.E., AICPKristen Lohse, and Peter Lagerwey from the Seattle office.
  • Bill and Amalia will be leading a half-day workshop on protected bike lane planning and design. Rebecca will present our recent Vision Zero work undertaken for the City of Seattle, and Kristen will conduct a session highlighting our development of an urban mountain bike trails plan for Portland, OR.

As corporate members of Cascade Bicycle Club, the Toole Design team is pleased to be attending and presenting at the Washington Bike Summit. In addition to our sessions, we will be connecting with bike enthusiasts from across the Pacific Northwest to share ideas and insight.

SouthEast Biking Symposium

March 23-25, 2017

The Beach House, Hilton Head Island, SC

  • Join Director of Strategy Andy Clarke and Jared Draper, AICP from the Spartanburg, SC office.
  • Andy will be delivering one of the Symposium’s keynote addresses, “Pathways to Success: How Southeast Communities Can Enjoy the Benefits of Biking
  • During the symposium, Jared with be leading a workshop on “Embracing Community Values through Multimodal Transportation Solutions.” He will also participate in a seminar about selling investment in bike trails: “You Can’t Fight City Hall: How to Work with Advocacy Groups & Win Over Local Government in Creating Trail Systems.”

This is a great opportunity for communities in the southeastern US to exchange information and solutions that promote active transportation and safer cycling. Hosted by the Hilton Head Island Visitor and Convention Bureau, participants can experience the island’s network of more than 60 miles of off-street biking and walking trails. Lifesavers Conference

March 26-28, 2017

Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte, NC

  • Toole Design Vice President & Principal Engineer Bill Schultheiss, P.E. will be presenting to highway safety professionals at the National Conference on Highway Safety Priorities
  • Bill’s presentation, “Let’s Share! Changing Roadway User Behavior through Engineering.” will focus on the connection between design and roadway safety for all users, and highlight the impact of engineering on behavior.

Lifesavers is one of the largest annual gatherings of federal, state and local traffic safety experts. Participants are primarily focused on education and enforcement programs, as well as emergency response and traffic incident management initiatives.

American Planning Association National Conference

May 6-9, 2017

Jacob K Javitz Convention Center, New York, NY

We’re proud to have five members of our staff participate in sessions at the American Planning Association’s conference, the largest gathering of planners in the country.
