MASTER TRANSPORTATION PLAN

Project Description
Toole Design Group (TDG) served as the prime consultant to update Arlington County’s Master Transportation Plan. The first comprehensive update since 1986, this Plan sets a bold, multi-modal vision for transportation planning in Arlington County. The development of this plan included significant public outreach through public forums, targeted focus groups, questionnaires and work sessions with a citizen’s committee. Following a review of existing modal plans, the team developed updated street, transit, bike, pedestrian and parking modal elements, and a summary document highlighting the most important elements of the Plan. The Plan focuses on increasing the efficiency of limited right-of-way space for transportation uses through increased multi-modalism.
