212 Third Avenue North, Suite 476
Minneapolis, MN 55401
Ciara Schlichting, AICP, Director
The Minneapolis office is located in the Colonial Warehouse building at 212 Third Avenue North, a five story historic structure that once served as headquarters for the City’s streetcar company. Located in Minneapolis’s North Loop Warehouse District, the office is within blocks of Minneapolis’s riverfront parks and trails, the Central Library, Target Field and Target Center.
For all modes, the Cyclopath bike trip planning tool will help you identify a suitable route to our office, or please call us for advice. Our office is a short walk from most destinations downtown. For persons with disabilities, both the front and rear parking lot entrances are accessible with convenient access to elevators. However, because we are located in the North Loop Historic Warehouse District, navigating adjacent sidewalks along 3rd Street N can be a challenge due to the preservation of loading docks and irregular street and sidewalk transitions. If feel you may need assistance, please call ahead and we will help you with navigation.
From the Southeast and the Mississippi River Trail System
A substantial network of largely off-road trails connect our office to locations on both sides of the Mississippi, including the St. Anthony Falls area, the University of Minnesota, the Dinkytown/Intercampus Trail, Midtown Greenway, and other parts of the Grand Rounds trail systems. Along the downtown side of the river, access our office via Fourth Avenue, which is the first street upriver of the Hennepin Avenue Suspension Bridge (about 1/3 mile after you go under the bridge). Continue about three blocks on Fourth Avenue, including the third block, which is closed to autos. Take a left on Second Street, and our building is the next one on the right.
From the West and Minneapolis Lakes District
The Cedar Lake Trail terminates at the Mississippi River Trail system just blocks from our office, and the Cedar Lake trail is itself a gateway to many major off-road trails – Kenilworth, Southwest, and the Midtown Greenway, as well as the network of trails around the Minneapolis Lakes district. To get to our office, take the Cedar Lake Trail to the Mississippi River Trail, take a left on the parkway, and another left onto Fourth Avenue. Continue about three blocks on Fourth Avenue, including the third block, which is closed to autos. Take a left on Second Street, and our building is the next one on the right.
From the Downtown Core
A wide variety of on-street bicycle lanes provide easy connections to our office as well, most notably along Third Street from the core of downtown Minneapolis, connecting to the Nicollet Mall and beyond.
Bike Parking Options
- Use a parking meter or signpost on our block for securing a bicycle (legally permitted in Minneapolis).
- Use a bike rack at the opposite end of the block.
- Call us in advance if you wish to arrange to bring your bicycle inside our building, we have a bike storage room on the lower level, and the building allows bicycles inside the building and we have space to accommodate your bicycle inside our office.
The Target Field Station is the last stop on the Blue Line, which connects the MSP Airport to downtown. From the Target Field Station you can follow Third Ave N. from 5th St N. and our building is three blocks on your right (between Washington Ave and 2nd St N.). The majority of the region’s bus lines also run through downtown Minneapolis within walking distance of our office. Use the MetroTransit trip planner to identify the best bus and/or train options to reach our office.
Starting from the major intersection of Hennepin and Washington Avenues in downtown Minneapolis, proceed northwest on Washington (you should be proceeding from the intersection with the Whole Foods store on your right). Third Avenue will cross Washington three blocks later.
Metered on-street parking is also often available nearby. There is also an off street Rapid Park lot nearby, take a left from Washington onto Third Avenue from Washington Avenue, and proceed one block to the lot, on the right side of the street (cost $5/day).
