Shaun Murphy-Lopez

Senior Planner

Shaun has worked in pedestrian and bicycle planning for over 12 years, and he serves as an expert on plans and research, with a focus on the Midwest. Shaun’s experience includes partnering with communities to create pedestrian, bicycle, and trail master plans as well as research within areas like maintenance and ADA accessibility. Shaun has served as the project manager for master plans in Baxter, MN; Cedar Rapids, IA; Brookings, SD; Polk County, WI; Urbandale, IA; Vermillion, SD; and Winona, MN. He was an author of the Topeka, KS Pedestrian Master Plan,  the Hennepin County Bikeway Maintenance Study, and the Massachusetts DOT’s Pedestrian Transportation Plan Municipal Resources Guide. Before joining Toole Design, Shaun served as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the City of Minneapolis between 2006 and 2014, where he led the doubling of the city’s on-street bikeway network from 40 to 80 miles.

During the warmer months, Shaun runs an organic farm in Southwestern Wisconsin, where he lives with his husband and too many animals to list.
