Senior Transportation Planner  (DC Office)

Toole Design Group is hiring a Senior Planner for our office in the Washington DC area. The ideal candidate will be a person with a strong commitment to sustainable transportation, who enjoys working with a skilled team of co-workers on projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities

The person hired for this position will independently manage company projects, oversee the work of multidisciplinary project teams, and serve as the "face" of the company at public meetings, meetings with clients, conferences and other venues. This person will have strong organizational skills, will be service-oriented, and will be able to understand and manage the needs and expectations of our diverse clients. Additional responsibilities will include marketing and mentoring of junior staff.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a B.A./B.S. in planning, landscape architecture, urban studies or journalism (or a related field), and at least 7 years of experience. The successful candidate must be a good writer and a competent public speaker. A broad knowledge base in transportation planning is essential, along with specific knowledge of and interest in bicycle and pedestrian planning. Prior experience with a consulting firm is a plus.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000 a year, depending on qualifications. This is a full time position that includes competitive benefits package, including health, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and a retirement plan that is matched by the company. Our office is located in Hyattsville, MD, within walking distance to the Metrorail Green Line. In February, 2012 we are relocating to an office adjacent to the Silver Spring Metro Station on the red line. We offer financial incentives to employees who use transit, walk or bicycle to work.
